Naturopathy

Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, with the key objective of identifying and treating the underlying cause of illness and disease.

Naturopathic medicine is an art and a science using unique combinations of scientific and traditional evidence to treat the person as a whole rather than a disease.

Naturopathy interlaces the following elements:

  • Nutrition:

What we consume we absorb. Understanding how the diet impacts our health is one of the key elements of naturopathic treatment. Dietary interventions are a fundamental component of treatment plans to ensure your nutrient needs are being met. Recipes, inspiration and dietary inclusions and exclusions will be offered to ensure wellbeing and vitality.

  • Lifestyle and Environmental Health

So much of what we do in our daily life defines our health. Our work life, social life, sleep (onset, quality and quantity), exercise routine, home health, environmental health and extracurricular activities (alcohol consumption, smoking, drug taking, sexual relationships), stress and family life all impact our health. By addressing these factors, modifications on how best to support your health will be created.

  • Nutraceuiticals:

When the body is depleted of essential vitamins and nutrients it is recommended nutraceutical supplementation be implemented. Practitioner only brands will be prescribed, which are gentle and effective in a return to health.

  • Herbal Medicine:

The beauty of herbal medicine is its ability to be individualised for each person. Herbs are reliant on the presentation of symptoms, health history, diet and lifestyle factors, current illnesses and medications. Herbs can work synergistically and individually, and can target specific body systems to enhance their function.

Used successfully for centuries, there is sufficient empirical, traditional and modern scientific research to support the use of herbal medicine. Naturopaths use therapeutic doses to treat symptoms.

Herbal medicine isn’t defined as only liquid herbal extracts, it can be used in the form of herbal teas, capsules, tablets and creams to name a few.

  • Energetic Medicine and Further Support:

Our health journey will often embody a spiritual and energetic element. To provide emotional support or to balance energies, I incorporate Australian Bush Flower Essences.

Other times during our healing journey, further support is required, when this presents I will recommend a list of other practitioners (doctors, specialists, counsellors, psychologists, acupuncturists), to aid you.

Naturopathic consults are often a journey, you won’t be seen once and forgotten, and follow up consults are often required to further ensure your journey back to health
